Code Snippet Manager Missing

By default the Code Snippet Manager in Visual Studio 2005 should appear directly under the Tools menu.

This is the second install I have noticed that it wasn't there.  Not sure what the combination is that is keeping it from being there by default, but if this happens to you restoring it is simple.

  1. Go to Tools -> Customize
  2. Select the Commands tab
  3. Select Tools
  4. Drag the Code Snippets Manager.. from Command up to the Tools menu.

I just found this site thanks to commandN. allows you to type in a URL and they will tell you what technology was used to build the site and what type of advertising they are using. Pretty cool. Try it on one of your sites and let me know how accurate it is ......

Apple Force Installs iTunes
So imagine Microsoft releases a new patch for Windows Media Player. You install it and now you have the Zune software. How many people do you think would be pissed about that? When I setup my desktop last week I didn't install iTunes because I don't really have a need for it. But I did install QuickTime and Apple Software Update. This morning Apple software update kicked in and wants to install iTunes + QuickTime to patch iTunes which doesn't exist on my computer. So I thought I would let it update ......

It was a toss up between Steve and D'Arcy.  The coin landed Apple side up.

25 Most Active Open Source Projects at Microsoft's CodePlex

eWeek has put together a nice slide show, including screen shots, of the top 25 projects on CodePlex based on activity.

This would be a nice feature for CodePlex to browse based on screen shots or other project contributed images instead of just a list mode.

Motorola Q9m - Windows Mobile 6 Comes to Verizon
The new design looks better. Oh, wait. Looks like it's loaded with the Verizon music and video junk (more ways to take your money) and they have REMOVED Windows Live and Live Messenger. Okay, which one of you Microsoft employees showed up drunk at the Verizon party and hit on the CEOs wife? No word yet on whether the Q will be upgraded like Microsoft was pushing for. Image Source and CNET Review ......

The .NET Show's Final Episode

I'll assume many of you reading this at least know what The .NET Show is.  Well, after 7 years its over.  Their announcement post doesn't really explain why.  Ratings?

I never understood why this show didn't transition into a podcast.  You always had to go download each episode manually.  Or did I just miss something.

Our Condolences Tony

I was right in the middle of typing a blog post about all the little things that seem to be going right today when I got a call from my wife, Kendra.

A friend's dad just passed away.  Really puts everything in perspective.

Tony, I know you read this blog, so let me say, you have our entire family's deepest sympathy.  I have lost both of my parents at a young age and I understand what a hard time this came be.

God bless.

What Happened to Rocketboom

Now I don't mean where is it.  Rocketboom is still here and Amanda is on ABC here.

But ever since Amanda left Rocketboom, the magic is gone.  Both shows are boring.

It's Time for the $99 Zune
Before the Zune launched there was one of many rumors floating around about pricing. One of those was a $99 price point. Well, I think it's time to make that a reality. Microsoft says Zune sales are on target. But that target was not that impressive and it's time to start pushing hard. We need a Zune 2. We need podcast and better video support. But mostly we need users. The price drop on the HD-DVD drive on the XBOX has fueled those sales and that was on $20. Drop the retail price on the Zune by ......

A Real Movie Style Sports Play (Video)
So your watching some movie like The Mighty Ducks or Unnecessary Roughness and they pull off some super secret play that wouldn't work in real life and is questionably legal and you say to yourself, that would never work. Well, it looks like these kids pulled one off. Who says you don't learn anything from TV and movies. What Are We Teaching Our Kids ......
