Think gaming is all about fun?

The army is investing 50 million dollars in the next five years  on games and gaming systems designed to prepare soldiers for combat. The need for video games as training aids was judged so great that the Army wanted to get products out to units before the funding came online. Check it out.

What did we use to do before computers?

I can't believe that the Massachusetts Registry offices had to close because of a power outage in Boston. I can't imagine if my license had to be renewed today and I was told to come back tomorrow when my license expired. Talk about not having a plan in place if the computers went down.

ODUG Meeting Wrap Up
Will Strohl did a great job hosting the Orlando DotNetNuke User Group meeting last night at ABC Fine Wines & Spirits Office in Orlando, FL. I left early for the meeting because I had no clue how long it would take to get across town during rush hour. I managed to get lost and called Will for help. I hate getting lost! In any event, it was a great meeting. David Bayer who is a search engine guru spoke about how he was using DotNetNuke with his clients. He spoke about innovative uses of the DNN ......

Orlando DotNetNuke User Group meeting tonight
I've been so busy with writing my chapters for the DotNetNuke 5 book that I missed the last meeting. I'll be there tonight! David Bayer will speak about innovative uses of the DNN technology and share his story of how to leverage rapid site deployment and skinning to build a network of owned and operated sites, and how DNN is ideal for this. There may also be some discussion around implementing search friendly architecture and url structure within the DNN framework. Hope to see you there ......

DotNetNuke Open Force Connections
Looks like the DotNetNuke Open Force Connection is a successful event this week in Las Vegas. Bloggers have been writing daily about what's going on. My writing colleagues, Darrell Hardy and Ryan Morgan are there. Ryan is also doing a presentation on skinning. There are several key interviews that are happening this week at the conference. The big news is that DotNetNuke version 5.0 RC2 can now be downloaded by everyone to take a look. Don't plan on using it for production. Looks like it might be ......

Wonder if other teams/companies will follow the Red Sox Lead?
The Red Sox organization have announced a freeze on ticket prices for their games at Fenway Park in Boston, MA for next year. What a wonderful gesture on behalf of the top brass. It costs an harm and a leg to visit Fenway. I did it last summer and first of all I had to pay double the normal price for tickets because the games are always sold out and the costs add on and on when you put out for parking, food, and souveniors when bringing a family. I shouldn't complain much because isn't that was Disney ......

Couldn't make it to PDC last month?
No problem at all. Microsoft already has plans for a road show to bring the same content that was talked about at the Professional Developers Conference to your local city. They will be in Houston, Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington DC, New York, Boston, Detroit, Dallas, and San Francisco in the next couple of months. It's great to see that Orlando, FL is on the list. There are three tracks to choose from. One on cloud services, client and presentation, and tools languages and framework. ......
