My role as the Academic Student Committee Chair at INETA is to form a committee of top student leaders from around the world to represent the student ‘pulse’ of INETA. This committee consists of an entire student support structure from web-designers to a marketing manager. One of the major components of the Student Committee is the Regional Director. These students manage the universities in their regions and determine the needs of their given region. Furthermore, these students will ...
Everyone is a critic... I've posted quite a few gripes myself, but seldom posted any ideas for fixing anything. Those of you who know me will realize that I believe in plans, outlines, frameworks, or whatever else you want to call it. So, with that, I'm going to post a very rough draft of an ICF or Imagine Cup Framework. A lot of this will be fairly abstract ideas that will allow for the program to mold to a fit as necessary. Also, this will focus solely on the Software Design Competition, no use ...
My fellow INETA Academic Committee member Andrew Flick put his thoughts in writing about the Imagine Cup regional competitions held on March 17th at 4 locations in the USA. The 8 winners from the regionals compete at Tech-Ed for the USA Finals, with 1 winner representing the Stars and Stripes at the World Finals in Brazil in July. Andrew has some gripes (mostly gripes) about the way the regional competitions were run. I tend to agree with him on most of his points. Here are my thoughts about the ...

Contact me if you wish to attend this event. We are expecting around 75 or so UG leaders to help plan the next year of INETA. TechEd is going to be rather exciting for INETA as we will be involved in the following activities: * INETA UG Leader Conference* Birds of a Feather sessions (BOFs)* INETA at the community booth ...
Microsoft Software Architect Tour Karachi went away quite well. Although the event started a little later then 9:30 but the 150 seated auditorium was jam packed as we entered to take to our seats, Gurkan Sulk, Vaqar Khasmani, Haseeb (the Winqual Guys) represented Microsoft from MEA, Pakistan and USA while I from INETA Pakistan and Khurram from Kalsoft were the local speakers there. I also met Jawad Rehman the Microsoft’s country manager for Pakistan and Dr. Wahab (former IBA chief) and had ...
Ah...I forgot, I'll be speaking in Software Architect Tour, 2004 at the Muhammad Ali Jinnah Untervarsity (MAJU) next week on March the 29th. Its at 22-E Block-6 P.E.C.H.S, Karachi. Damn ! Why do I have to miss an important MMS hourly back here in my university? Bad timing... I guess. I'll be giving my not so infamous (cos its the fist time): INETA Pakistan - The Developer Community Revolution Speech I'll talk about User Groups, INETA, INETA Pakistan, the new User Group Structure for Pakistan and ...
Arsalan Minhas the INETA Chair for Pakistan and also my friend has left off to Korea to pursue a master’s degree and I have formally taken over all his responsibilities a few days ago. I have taken on me to bring a developer community revolution in Pakistan. Right now I am in things way over my head, lots and lots of work do to which I am not deliberately delegating at this stage because I want to keep it all very tightly coupled. I sit here at home waiting for the clock to strike 10 (PST) ...
My new job in INETA Infrastructure is Development Manager.  This role puts me in charge of all development from our INETA volunteer developers.  This is going to be a fun job.  If you would like to join our development team, please comment here or email me at jeff.julian@ineta.org.
INETA is going to be running the Birds of a Feather (BOFs) again this year. We did this at PDC 2003 as well and it was rather successful. It is an amazing addition to the overall event. YES, TechEd and PDC are great events, but it is one PPT presentation after another with a handful of questions at the end. The BOFs are meant to be community driven discussions/debates around a particular issue. There is no speaker - just a moderator for the topic and everyone is encouraged to participate and discuss ...
This is the mail which I wrote to update the core mumbers of MUGH. This has relevancy to my previous post regarding the Academic .Net workshop where MUGH MVPS and Community Stars are presenting various talks related to .net.Sorry this is a long mail. Hello Core,I would like to share my experiences (I hope even Nilotpal would have the same feelings what I write here ;) )First of all I should say this is an excellent activity which is going on at VNR VJIET. And Guys like Vikram and Tapasvi and Team ...
Today, INETA is officially two years old! It is hard to believe that INETA is two years old this month. When we launched INETA in February of 2002, .NET was fairly new and we came to the scene with about 40 user groups in our association. Today, we have close to 500 user groups and more than 170,000 members from all over the world that are part of INETA! Our growth is more than anyone ever imagined and outstanding as it is, it is also one of the most difficult things in managing INETA. More growth ...
We are starting to prepare for the wedding in May. One of the ideas we have is to use a powerpoint presentation to show photos of us during the pre-wedding gathering. Well guess what I found, a photo of me and Waylon from TechEd. Well for those of you who weren't there, Waylon is a giant bull that people sit on to get their pictures taken. Sounds like a great job, huh? I am completely petrified when it comes to cattle. Being near a cow completely scares the piss out of me. I don't remember who it ...
I have been recognized as a MVP on Asp/Asp.net. The official mail came last night. I believe its a new beginning in the way I look around tools & technologies. I am looking forward to more interesting challenges and avenues where I could be more productive and helpfull to the developer community at large. First thing is I need to take some more time out of my regular work and get back to Ineta dev effort I am missing a lot of action happening there. Tameem Ansari (Teucer) ...

Please shoot me another email and I will contact you. INETA is still looking for volunteer developers to help us create our next website. Devin Rader, who heads the Infrastructure committee for INETA, points out that INETA is searching for web developers for some projects.
Got some extra cycles? INETA is looking for volunteer developers to help us craft our next generation website. We are writing in ASP.NET and C#, and all docs and communication will be done in English. If your interested and have ASP.NET development experience and are willing to devote some time to a good cause, please contact me at devin.rader@ineta.org UPDATE: I created a new subject in the INETA forums for developers to comunicate. You will have to register on the INETA website, then email me and ...
I am rather disappointed in Microsoft and INETA for under-representing the Southeast as much as they did. The closest place for people interested in the road show to go is Dallas/Houston, St Louis, or Boston. For me, the closest of the 3 is about 8 hrs. I don't think I can talk anyone into a 16-hour road trip. It would've been nice if there were an event in Atlanta. This would've covered us. I just don't understand why such a good portion of the US is not covered. The only thing that makes sense ...
Geekswithblogs.net was mentioned in the INETA newsletter this month. Because of this, we are (and hopefully will be) signing up new members that attend user groups. If you are a leader, please tell your members about this site. We have plenty of room to grow and any promotion you can do will help make this site better and better. Update: To see the newsletter I mentioned, click here ...
I added the INETA Speaker events on the left side bar for INETA user groups of the Main Page.  If you see one of these in your town, I would highly suggest going.
Interesting .... INETA gets a mention on Miguel de Icaza's blog. I understand that the Mono interested folks did have a meeting separate of the BOFs at PDC and that there was a rather large group in attendance. In the middle of the week at PDC, I did end up having lunch with Miguel and some of the other INETA folks and we did talk about the situation. ..... ummmm .... buy me a beer if you want to know! ;) ...
We learned a lot about BOF session, all went great as far a I know. Some only had a few people and others had over 100. What is the most amazing is having hundreds of people staying until after midnight in some cases and still full of energy and excitement! I appreciate all the hosts and hope that INETA can do something similar at future conferences. Some of the feedback / lessons: - Get the session details on the conference mini-guide.- While some things changed, almost all the sessions proceeded ...
A a member of two INETA committees, I feel user groups are one of the most important entities to make developers the best they can be.  If you don't attend your local user group, you need to stop coding and head right over.  On the left bar of the Main Page for Geekswithblogs.net you will find a list of the next user group meetings with INETA speakers.
